National Scrapbooking Day ~ Blog Hop

Welcome!
Today is National Scrapbooking Day.
But did you also know that today in
  • 1824 Beethoven’s 9th Symphony premiered in Vienna.
  • 1915 The British ocean liner Lusitania was sunk by a German submarine in World War I off the coast of Ireland.
  • 1994 Edvard Mmunch’s painting, The Scream was recovered a few months after it had been stolen
Now that I have shared some history with you let us get back to the blog hop.
We're celebrating National Scrapbooking Day at "Let's Get Peachy!"
The Peachy Kat's have created some special projects and posted them on our blogs.
All of us are looking forward to your visit and hope that our projects both delight and inspire you!

Check out Paper Phenomenon for some great instructions on how to create this great shadow box. She has ustream classes often on how to create all of her wonderful projects.

This shadow box is one of my favorite things that she has made.

Her original idea was for a Halloween shadow box, which I made

I loved it so much that I made a Fall theme one as well.

I made this Easter/Spring theme one recently for a secret sister swap.
So even though Easter is over, you can use this idea for any holiday/season.

The best part of this project is that everything was bought at the dollar store, Target dollar spot or Hobby Lobby. I did not spend more than a dollar for each item. Which makes this project super cheap.

1- 12x12 sheet of chipboard

5 sheets of cardstock (this will be the base of the shadow box)
Coordinating pattern paper in your season
3 yards of fiber
Various Embellishments for the 12 interior boxes.

Cut Cardstock
6 - 8x5
4 - 5x5
4 - 12x7/8

Cut pattern paper
4 mats – 2 7/8 x 2 7/8
6 mats – 5 7/8 x 2 7/8
Here are some of the supplies I used to make this shadow box. Search for fun items to use on your project.

You have a chance to win a great prize over at Let's Get Peachy!
Please visit all 14 blogs on our Celebrate National Scrapbooking Day Blog Hop itinerary, and be sure to leave a comment on each one. After you have visited all 14 Peachy Kat's, go back here to Let's get Peachy and leave a 2nd post to let us know you have completed the hop. One lucky winner's name will be drawn at random to receive a fun blog hop prize.

You will also have a chance to win this prize on my blog.

All you need to do is become a follower and leave a comment about 3 things that you plan to do on National Scrapbooking Day!  But there is a twist! That is what makes the blog hops fun. One of the things you do on National Scrapbooking Day has to follow the alphabet.
The first person starts with A (I am going to use alphabet stickers today) and the next person uses B (I am going to use buttons today) and so on. If you get to the end of the alphabet, then start over. Please only one entry per person. I will use random.org to select a winner.

Entries are due by 8pm on May 9th. The winner will be posted on May 10th

This is your Blog Hop itinerary. Please proceed to Tammy's blog;

The links will direct you along the way to each of the other stops on the blog hop. If you get lost, you may refer to the links here.

Love the shadow box, and love your prize requirements! LOL! I'm now a follower and I'm sure it will be fun.

Today, I am Dancing around my craft room as I put the supplies away after each project (yeah... It's a Weight Watcher Thing). I'm also following the Fiskateers On Line Crop and I'm making paper as a special treat for some friends.

I'm now a follower. Here are three things I did on NSD:

1. Work at Jazz Fest in New Orleans
2. Catch some scrapbooking websites
3. Cookout and a mint julep in honor of Derby Day

(It was difficult to tell which letter was next, but it looks like "J" which works perfectly.)

Thanks!
